Family Dinner Project to take place Thursday, February 19
ORLEANS – Purdue Extension–Orange County is inviting local families to come together for a free and welcoming evening focused on healthy eating and the importance of sharing meals. The Family Dinner Project will take place Thursday, February 19, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Orleans Public Library, located at 174 North Maple Street in Orleans.
The program will feature a healthy crockpot meal prepared for attendees, along with practical tips for using slow cookers at home. Participants will also learn research-based insights from The Family Dinner Project, highlighting how regular family meals support emotional well-being, brain development, and overall family health.
The event is open to the public at no cost and is designed to be family-friendly, making it a great opportunity for parents, caregivers, and children to enjoy a meal together while learning simple, budget-friendly cooking strategies.
Advance registration is requested to help organizers plan for food. Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling 812-723-7107 or emailing Health and Human Sciences Educator Veronica Portillo at vportill@purdue.edu. Individuals who need accommodations, interpretation, or translation services are encouraged to make arrangements in advance through the same contact information.
Organizers hope the evening will not only provide a nutritious meal, but also encourage families to build stronger connections around the dinner table.
